Bobby Bailey

Bobby found his passion for all things two-wheeled the moment training wheels came off his bike. Like most kids, he rode everywhere. "It was the bike that primed my competitive nature". Bobby would set up races with the starting line in his driveway and hassle older kids into competing. His drive developed further in the sport of motocross where endurance and fitness gave him the winning edge over more talented riders. Bobby has been cycling for most of his life and feels most alive when making a two-wheeled machine go fast. "Everything just feels right when you train hard enough to power your bike effortlessly."

As a semi-pro racer competing against the nation's best in professional races around the country, Bobby trained up to 30 hours per week. He did this while holding down a full time job. "During my days of racing I discovered that, in order to succeed, you had to be efficient". Bobby believes in selecting focused and purposeful workouts to avoid burnout. His philosophy is based on scientifically creating training plans allowing for less time commitment, thus providing more opportunity to concentrate on friends, family, and other areas of life.

As a certified USA Cycling Coach with a degree in Biology, Bobby has a philosophical understanding of sport and the science to back it up. "I am committed to helping athletes of all ages and skill levels achieve their goals". 1K2GO is based on the philosophy that, while each athlete faces a unique set of demands in life, all athletes are bound together by the same desire to win. It’s not just about "riding lots" anymore. Modern techniques allow athletes to excel in less time with the guidance of a dedicated coach. Bobby feels that "there is nothing more gratifying than working with a passionate and dedicated client".

Michael Burris

Michael Burris is a USA Cycling Certified Coach and the director of the Burris Logistics – Fit Werx Masters Racing Team. Michael transitioned to cycling after spending his college years as a competitive rower. For him, cycling seemed like the perfect activity to help maintain some hard earned fitness. Never intending to do more than "just ride," he could not avoid the inevitable. "I remember lining up for my first race as a neophyte, category 5 racer," he recalls with a laugh, "I learned A LOT that day." These days he competes as a much more experienced category 3/Masters cyclist in both road and cyclocross. His specialties include criterium racing and time trials.

As a coach, Michael has worked with competitive athletes, CEOs, weekend warriors, and beginners looking to do their first event. "The purpose of a coach in my mind," he reflects, "is to design effective plans, but more importantly, it is to engage the athlete in weekly dialogue that gets at both the physical and mental aspects of training and racing." He believes deeply that the psychology of endurance sports is as important as the physical. "I haven’t quite forgotten my days as a rower. The body can always do more than you think it can."

Michael has a B.S. in Biology from the University of Vermont as well as a Masters of Education degree also from the University of Vermont. In addition to an extensive bicycle-racing resume, Mike has completed multiple marathons, ultra-marathons, and triathlons. While not immersed in bicycle racing and training, Mike teaches high school physics and freelances as an educational consultant and academic coach. He, his wife, and two daughters live in Shelburne, Vermont.

David Connery

Dave has been a competitive runner, cyclist, and cross country skier for over 30 years. His multi-sport origins can be credited racing Nordic, while living in a "not so snowy" Upstate New York. After racing triathlons through the 90s, and then concentrating on cycling in the 2000s, Dave has utilized a few different methodologies over a long period of time and found a few things that work.

Racing everything from sprints up to the 70.3, Dave believes that there is more than just putting in time, and that there is no one thing that can make or break a successful event or season. Everything in life is a series of random events. The best plan against this randomness is a broad system based on realistic training goals, a moderate amount of racing, and smart choices in nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle. At a time when people can easily spend money to buy speed on the bike, that is not the case in the run. Rather, what makes the difference on the run is simply the opposite: not spending money. Notably, not spending money on food. An effective weapon in an athlete’s arsenal is a lean body mass that comes from a balanced diet that is somewhat counter to society’s norm.

Effective racing doesn’t come from living like a monk either, but it does come from a carefully developed plan that fits with your lifestyle, even if you are working full time and raising a family. With the right goals, and the right plan, 1K2GO can make your triathlon performance start to change for the better.

Dave is currently a masters bike racer, a USAT All-American, a former Cat II racer, and recently was the top age grouper at the 2011 Patriot Half Ironman , finishing 4th behind 3 Pro racers. This year, while working at his job supporting the armed forces and raising a young family, Dave is concentrating on USAT Age Group Nationals in Vermont, and the VT 50 Mountain Bike race. Dave lives in Shelburne with his wife Lynn, and their two children, Madeleine and Ted. His other hobbies include logging, vegetable gardening, and leading Bobby Bailey out for sprints.

Steve Gaydos

Steve was a track standout in high school. After engineering school he became physically active again, enjoying whitewater kayaking, hiking, XC skiing, and eventually cycling. His first years in cycling were devoted to club rides, touring, centuries, back-to-back centuries such as TOSRV, and double centuries. He’s done the Midwest Double Century, the Delaware Double Century, and the Vermont 100/200. He completed the Mad River Century a couple of years ago in under 5 hours. In the late 80s he began road racing and rose to the Cat 3 level. After several years of plain fitness riding, he got back into racing. He’s in his sixth year of competing in the GMBC Time Trial Series.

Steve is a certified USA Cycling Coach, and ACE-certified Personal Trainer and Lifestyle and Weight Management Coach. He’s in his 8th year of full-time personal training and group fitness instruction, working at the Greater Burlington YMCA and HammerFit Athletic Club in Essex. He is at home in the gym, concentrating on strength training, rehab, balance training, and posture improvement. He teaches classes in Marathon Training, Ski and Snowboard Fitness, and Golf Conditioning, and has taught an HRM Spinning class which was based on Heart Zone workouts.

He has accepted with pleasure the challenge of being competitive with younger athletes by training carefully both on the bike and in the gym, and by learning firsthand how especially important proper recovery is for the older athlete. He is a believer in concurrent strength and endurance training and incorporates weight training in his workout schedule throughout the year. He enjoys helping people enter the world of competitive and long distance cycling, and triathlon. If you want to perform at your best and haven’t got the time for trial and error training, you can take advantage of Steve’s cycling experience and knowledge of the latest power and heart rate training techniques.

Isaac Howe

"When people ask me about training they are very surprised to hear that to race like a pro, you don't need to train like Lance Armstrong. A full-time job and kids, or for you students, homework and all-night dance parties, don't prevent you from being a good bike racer. What limits most is balancing the mix. Too many people invest more into racing than what they feel their results represent, I'm committed to changing that. Now, I'm not going to be the right person to give advice on dodging your spouse to go to a race, but I can make sure you have the best training and reliable tactical advice. Let me work with you in 2012 to push you to be a better athlete." -Isaac Howe

A New Hampshire native, Isaac has over 14 years of racing experience in the New England, national, and international racing scene. He started racing mountain then transitioned over to road while in college. His training philosophy closely resembles his astute attention to detail and his analytical personality.

Isaac attended the University of Vermont where he achieved a bachelor of science in biochemistry with an emphasis on nutrition. Going into his fourth year as a uci continental pro, he just resigned with Kenda Pro Cycling for 2012. Some of his major career highlights were 2008 ECCC Collegiate Sprint Leader and DI Overall Series Leader, 2009 Carolina Cup winner, 2010 Best Young Rider and Overall USA Crits Leader, 4th 2011 USA Professional Criterium National Championships, and 2011 Gateway Cup Overall.
